About the Role
The People Apprentice will report to the People Partner: Technology and support the Technology / SRX People Team.
The role is designed to provide practical exposure to the full employee lifecycle and broader People function. This includes recruitment administration, employee records, onboarding and offboarding, reporting, HR systems, employee engagement and coordination.
The apprentice will work with People Partners and other stakeholders while developing foundational knowledge in areas such as:
- Talent acquisition
- Employee engagement
- Learning and development
- HR systems
- People analytics
- Reporting
- HR administration
- People operations
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment and Talent Acquisition Support
The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day recruitment and general HR administration.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with CV screening and candidate sorting.
- Supporting the shortlisting process.
- Scheduling interviews.
- Communicating with candidates.
- Sending Microsoft Teams interview invitations.
- Maintaining recruitment trackers.
- Updating vacancy information and candidate progress.
- Tracking approvals and recruitment workflow stages.
- Ensuring recruitment requests are captured and updated on time.
2. Employee Records and HR Administration
The apprentice will assist with maintaining accurate employee and recruitment documentation.
Duties include:
- Maintaining employee records.
- Filing people-related documents.
- Updating recruitment records.
- Preparing HR documentation.
- Tracking candidate information and outcomes.
- Supporting accurate recordkeeping across HR systems.
3. Verification and Background Checks
The role will involve coordinating different candidate verification processes.

- Identity verification.
- MIE checks.
- Tracking verification results.
- Filing verification documentation.
- Escalating concerns when necessary.
4. Onboarding and New Employee Administration
The People Apprentice will assist with onboarding new employees and ensuring that all required documentation is completed.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing offer letters.
- Preparing employment contracts.
- Preparing employee take-on packs.
- Supporting induction administration.
- Assisting with store immersion administration.
- Tracking signed documents.
- Ensuring completed documents are correctly filed.
- Preparing completed starter packs for Payroll.
- Tracking employee number generation.
- Communicating employee numbers to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintaining new starter lists.
- Supporting monthly onboarding communications.
5. HR Systems and Data Management
The successful candidate will work with HR systems and various data sources to maintain accurate information.
This includes:
- Updating HR systems and platforms.
- Validating employee information.
- Supporting data collection and cleansing.
- Compiling reports and people metrics.
- Assisting with dashboards.
- Supporting SAP administration.
- Checking employee numbers and position information.
- Supporting status changes and related documentation.
- Comparing SAP information with tracker data and employee records.
6. Learning and Development
The apprentice will also provide administrative support for learning and development activities.
This may include:
- Maintaining training records.
- Tracking attendance.
- Supporting learning administration.
- Assisting with employee development activities.
7. Employee Engagement and Wellness
The role provides exposure to employee engagement and workplace culture initiatives.
The successful candidate may assist with:
- Employee engagement initiatives.
- Culture activities.
- Wellness campaigns.
- Communication activities.
- Coordination of employee events and workshops.
8. Reporting and Presentations
The apprentice will assist with preparing HR-related information and communication materials.
Responsibilities may include:

Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have an HR-related Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree.
